The Benefits of Becoming a World Heritage Site

World Heritage Site status is a great honour which will bring major benefits to the city:

  • The international importance of Liverpool's historic importance and its surviving architecture, technological monuments and collections will be acknowledged internationally 
  • Liverpool's image as an historic city will be improved, increase its appeal to international tourists and new business 
  • Opportunities for securing public funding for heritage-led projects will be significantly increased by Liverpool's enhanced heritage status 
  • The Management Plan will ensure that the Nominated Site is managed as an exemplary demonstration of sustainable development and heritage-led regeneration.
