The production of the Liverpool - Maritime Mercantile City Nomination Document was co-ordinated by Liverpool City Council on behalf of the World Heritage Site Steering Group in 2002 and has been approved by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport as an acceptable document to make Liverpool's case for addition to UNESCO's World Heritage list.
The nomination Document follows the format required by UNESCO, as set out in its Operational Guidelines for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention. Only a limited number of copies of the Nomination Document were printed in 2002, but it is intended that further copies will be printed for sale later in 2004. Nomination Documents
